Buzzing by day and even livelier by night, Manchester is a city where there is truly always something happening. From dancing and eating out to music, comedy and countless arts and culture venues, you will be spoilt for choice whatever you like to do.

Manchester is an easy to reach city. If you are travelling by air then Manchester Airport will be your arrival destination. The largest airport outside of London, you can reach Manchester by air from seventeen different locations throughout Britain. The airport lies within easy reach of the city centre and once you touch own you can whizz straight into the city centre either by road or rail.

If you fancy travelling to Manchester by bus then National Express is your best bet and your arrival point will be Chorlton Street coach station in the city centre.

You can also travel to Manchester by using the train. Manchester Piccadilly is the main station for trains to and from the rest of the country, although Victoria station is still used, particularly for links to and from Halifax and Bradford.

Once you have arrived safely and checked into your accommodation you can start exploring the city. Manchester is a musical metropolis and the birthplace of countless world-class bands and stars so if music is a passion of yours then you are definitely in for a treat.

The live music scene in Manchester is still one of the best to be found in the country and there are several venues to choose from depending on what is music to your ears.

Manchester’s largest music venue is the Manchester Evening News (M.E.N) Arena, also one of the largest indoor arenas in Europe and one of the busiest venues in the world.

Opened in 1995 and attracting over one million visitors each year, the 21,000 capacity arena has staged some of the biggest names in live entertainment, from The Rolling Stones to Madonna.

There are several more music venues to visit asides from the R.E.N arena. Classical and world music lovers should seek out Bridgewater Hall and alternative music lovers will be pleased with the smaller music venues on offer.

With over five hundred licensed premises in Manchester city centre there are plenty of places to stop for a drink or to dance the night away.

If you are game for a laugh then one of the city’s comedy clubs could offer the perfect pitstop. The Comedy Store Manchester and Manchester’s The Frog and Bucket are the best known venues for raising a few laughs.

With over ninety museums and galleries, Manchester is hard to beat when it comes to art and culture. Enjoy art at the Lowry centre or Manchester Art Gallery and explore urban life at Urbis.

The choice of hotels in Manchester is just as varied as the city itself and whatever you need, from budget friendly to utterly opulent, Manchester will have something to fit the bill.
